Excel 2010 Book List Updated
The list of my Excel 2010 books is now up-to-date, with cover images and links to Amazon.
You'll notice a new one: Excel Dashboards and Reports. It's really Mike Alexander's book but I contributed a few chapters and got listed as a co-author with the Data Pig.
The publisher and I still haven't decided if a new edition of Excel Charts will be added to the list.

- By Marilyn Varley. Comment posted 23 April, 2010 11:38amJOHN, I HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR A NEW BOOK: WE NEED A VBA/EXCEL TERMINOLOGY REFERENCE. NOT JUST A DICTIONARY OR GLOSSARY, BUT A FULL FLEDGED DISCUSSION OF MAJOR & MINOR TERMS ASSOCIATED WITH VBA. I SUSPECT THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN WHAT WOULD BE THE ACTUAL CONTENT IN YOUR VARIOUS BOOKS; JUST COMPILE IT INTO AN ALPHABETIC REFERENCE. YOU COULD NAME IT: "THE WORDS OF VBA". ~mbv

- By Jed Shields. Comment posted 11 May, 2010 8:57amSorry, just noticed the final sentence! Hurry up and decide so I can either wait, or order the current 2007 version :D

- By Marc. Comment posted 28 May, 2010 7:18pmJohn, which of your books would you recommend as an "official" study guide for the MCAS Excel 2007 test?
- By John Walkenbach. Comment posted 28 May, 2010 8:00pmTeng, no. I don't do Facebook or Twitter. Well, I do Twitter, but just as a joke. I'm old fashioned and I'm not interested in any of this social stuff on the Web.
Marc, I've never heard of MCAS Excel 2007 test. Unless it's a very specialized test, I'd guess the Bible would be your best choice. But if you fail it, don't blame me! - By Gabriel W. Comment posted 02 August, 2010 9:36amJust downloaded Excel 2010 Power Programming With VBA as an e-book. How shall i get hold of the CD-Rom (or the files)- is there a download available or some other delivery method?

I'm currently working from the 2010 Power Programming w/VBA book. I'm having trouble with the code to load an add-in (Chapter 23 checkaddin.xlam). if I tell it to load the add-in I get an error "Unable to get the add property of the addins class"
What I'd like to do is incorporate this code into my app to load it as an addin and remove it when the user exits my app.
Any tips/pointers welcome and very much appreciated. - By Jon Mourar. Comment posted 20 January, 2011 12:04pmJohn,
I believe I found an error in your Excel 2010 Formulas. I hope this is the appropriate place to post it. On page 651, you are explaining the Select Case construct in VBA, and say in the last sentence on that page that "Any number of instructions can be written below each Case statement; they all execute if that case evaluates to TRUE." I was pretty sure that was wrong, so I tested it (and looked it up in VBA help). It only executes the first true statement. Other than that, I love your book!
Jon Mourar - By Jon Mourar. Comment posted 20 January, 2011 12:11pmSorry, John, I made an error. Upon re-reading the sentence, I realize you are talking about all the instructions under the case executing, not all the true cases. Sorry for the misinterpretation! Probably would be good to explain that only the first true case is executed though.
- By John Walkenbach. Comment posted 20 January, 2011 12:12pmJon, it's actually correct. But it certainly could have been written more clearly.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the sentence is correct. I was a little hasty in my criticism, although I did read it several times before I made my comment! Not sure why I didn't see the light before I posted. I don't think it is unclear, I just misinterpreted. Overall, I think you explain things very well. Thanks again.
